5 Helpful Hints

Some plumbing issues are easy to solve on your own. The suggestions below might save you the time and expense of a service call. But remember, when you need us, let us know and we’ll be there!

  • Avoid a clogged shower drain. You can purchase a drain strainer at your local hardware store and use it to stop hair, soap and other debris from going down the drain.
  • Do not pour oils and grease down your kitchen drain—or any drain!
  • If your faucet is running too slowly, unscrew your aerator and soak it overnight in white vinegar to eliminate mineral deposits. This should open up the water’s flow.
  • Prevent freeze-ups! During the winter, turn off the water supply for your outdoor valves. Also, be sure to drain the water from the pipes. Disconnecting outside valves—or upgrading to frost-free spigots—will also make a difference.
  • Make sure you know where your main water shut-off valve is located. There may come a time when you need to shut off your water in an emergency.
